Union, Las Vegas casino in war of words – Casinos

Station Casinos, a Las Vegas casino company, is using improper tactics to keep their employees from joining the union, claimed by the union officials for the Culinary Workers Union Local 226. Station Casinos, in contrast claims that they recognize and uphold the rights of their employees to unionize should they desire. A complaint hearing has been set for August 16 and will be heard by the National Labor Relations Board.

127 complaints filed are included. Against a Nevada casino company, popular for casino games, it is said to be the largest complaint ever filed.

To find out details about union membership, threatening to terminate workers that participate in the union, prohibiting employees from wearing union buttons and apparel and bribing employees with better conditions if they will agree to stop organizing with the union, the casino chain is accused of many instances of harassing employees.

By Station Casinos supposed strategies and states that they will continue to organize a union, the union is undaunted. Likewise, Station Casinos states that the union has been trying to organize Station Casino employees for well over 10 years without success and it plans to fight strongly to these claims.

Culinary Workers Union Local 226 currently has 55,000 members many of which are Las Vegas casino employees.
