Borgata casino wins

Playing a penny slot machine at the Borgata Hotel Casino & Spa, an Ocean County man won a slot jackpot of nearly $5 million night, making him the casino’s second multimillion-dollar slot winner in two weeks. After a pair of gamblers took, home more than $4 million from two separate slot jackpots, the payout came less than two weeks.

When five “progressive” symbols appeared on the payout line, the man was playing a Wizard of Oz Ruby Slippers machine, signaling a jackpot of more than $4,963,819. A man from Staten Island, N.Y. won $3,491,146 on January 16, when he was playing a Wheel of Fortune penny progressive slot machine. A few hours earlier, on a Wheel of Fortune 50-cent machine, another New York man won $700,161.

None of the winners would speak with reporters or would publicly identify themselves. The casino described the Thursday’s winner only as a male from Ocean County and they never disclosed his age or hometown. It seems the winners wanted to keep their names as a secret.

On progressive slot machines, all the three jackpots were won, which link slot players from many of Atlantic City’s 11 casinos and form a communal jackpot pool. From penny slot machines, came the two largest jackpots.

At multiple locations throughout the city, Wide area progressive linked systems link slot machines. WMS Gaming has manufactured the Wizard of Oz progressive slot system. In WMS company history, the jackpot at Borgata is the largest progressive jackpot.
